The 2.5-acre lot sold the homeowners on the property when they first looked at it some 30 years ago. Extensive landscaping since has transformed it into a private park heavily planted with native materials, creating a naturalized woodland and playground for their grandchildren and guests.
With the house backed up to a rising hillside, boulder retaining walls were added to create terraced areas for a deck, stone terrace, swimming pool, fire pit, in-ground trampoline, timber pergola covered with native grape plants, and other amenities. The entry walks and driveway were accentuated with an arts and craft pattern and colored concrete to complement the Prairie-influenced home renovation, also designed by Studio Hittle.
